First Chinese woman born and raised in Toledo, now 97 years old.

In such a gigantic world, it takes a little bit of luck and a lot of hard work to achieve your dreams. The deep-seeded thirst for knowledge and a better life was instilled in Doris by her strong mother. Tradition and advancement were two things important to Doris and her family, and my artwork strived to show both those things. Her connection between Toledo and China are key elements. The woman’s symbol lies in plain sight, obviously a proud influence.
